Europe, 1988

This is an album of photos taken during our travels through Europe in 1988.

We took three months for the trip, beginning with a visit to West Berlin to catch up with family.
West Berlin, at that time, was an "island" in East Germany surrounded by the Berlin Wall. People were still routinely being shot while trying to escape from East Germany into West Berlin.

We then moved on to Paris where we picked up our new car, which we named Bonaparte (all of our cars have names).
Bonaparte carried us safely through France, Monaco, Italy, and Yugoslavia before we returned via Austria to Frankfurt for our flight home.

At the time, Yugoslavia was still one country, and a wonderful place to visit, before the unimaginable (to us, at least) fighting broke out a few years later.

The photos were taken with a Nikon Nikkormat film camera, and later scanned using a Nikon Coolscan V digital scanner.
