23. The Bell Tower in Xi'an
| We have moved on to the ancient Chinese capital of Xi'an, which once vied with Rome and Constantinople as the greatest city in the world. At the centre of a huge roundabout in the middle of the city stands this massive Bell Tower. It was built in 1384, in the early Ming Dynasty, and remains a symbol of today's Xi'an. |
