23. The Bell Tower in Xi'an

We have moved on to the ancient Chinese capital of Xi'an, which once vied with Rome and Constantinople as the greatest city in the world. At the centre of a huge roundabout in the middle of the city stands this massive Bell Tower. It was built in 1384, in the early Ming Dynasty, and remains a symbol of today's Xi'an.
