64. Valparaiso harbour
| We have now arrived in Valparaiso, once the very busy main port of Chile. However, the opening of the Panama Canal took away much of the port traffic and Valparaiso quuickly lost much of its importance. Cruise ships now visit, although the port facilities are not adequate and the small boats in the foreground are needed to move passengers to and from ships anchored in the harbour. |
