23. Tanneries within the Fes medina
| Within the Fes medina is the leather souk (or market) which is centred around the tanneries. Most of the leather shops have balconies from which the tanneries can be viewed. The white tubs are for the initial processing of the hides in ammonia, the rooftop areas are used for drying the hides, and the coloured tubs for dyeing the leather. |
