54. The Djemma el Fna, Marrakech
| Recognised by UNESCO for its World Heritage values, the Djemma el Fna is a huge square in the Marrakech medina which is "the centre of all the action". In the daytime it functions as a marketplace with snake charmers, clowns, musicians, etc. all performing amid the passing crowds, with narrow derbs (lanes) leading off the square into the medina in all directions. |
